Why Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate oral prescribed?

Sodium polystyrene sulfonate medication helps your body to control extra potassium. It is used in the treatment of high levels of potassium in your blood which causes heart rhythm problems. It is available in liquid suspension and powder suspension to take by mouth. The dosage of the solution is one to four times a day so it is mandatory to use it exactly as directed on your prescription label carefully and always ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain all the parts you do not understand. Don’t try to use it more or less than prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist because doctors suggest it only when the side effect is less than the benefit. You should stop the medication immediately when you feel some serious side effects like swelling hands/ankles/feet, bloating/swelling/pain in the stomach/abdomen, fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat, constipation, mental/mood changes such as confusion, irritability, or slowed thinking, muscle weakness/spasms, seizures, unusual bleeding.
